Our Vision

The vision to develop a dominant model of a completely integrated community base health system, providing comprehensive health care and health education is the foundation and focus of RAHI. The overall mission of RAHI is “To support health and wellness in communities by providing treatment, education and health care services”.
RAHI offers reliable, high quality comprehensive health care services to communities. As a community based organization, we also deliver services to individuals who require services because of acute illness, long-term health conditions, permanent disability or terminal illness.
A unique feature of RAHI is that it continues to create a unique focus in rural health care that is not available with any of the other community based organizations in Nigeria. Other plans for health care are to develop specific target of practice guidelines that address the common chronic illness in our communities; keeping patients at home versus being hospitalized.

Our Mission

To support health and promote wellness in communities by providing treatment, education and health care services. Rural Africa Health Initiative, a community based organization; believe that quality health care is a basic human right. By staying abreast of the latest developments in health care and maintaining a collaborative team effort, RAHI strives to uphold itself as the premier provider of integrated health care service for the people of rural Africa.

The RAHI Medical Outreach (acronym RAHI) is a private, health Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in the year 2000 as a Community Base Organization (CBO) with the aim of taking healthcare to the people of rural Africa and specific reference to riverine communities in the Niger Delta Region, Nigeria. We are registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (C.A.C.) under part ‘C’ of Incorporated Trustees of the Companies and Allied Matters Decree as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with the name RAHI Medical Outreach. However we maintain our acronym, RAHI since it’s the name we are known within our local populace in Africa.

Our theme is “towards efficient and sustainable rural health in Africa”. RAHI started as a Community Based Organization (CBO) in the year 2000 with the sole aim of championing rural healthcare viz-a-viz the long standing neglect of rural communities in the provision of healthcare. Since the year 2000 we have been involved with small help-projects with specific focus to rural riverine communities in the Niger-Delta, Nigeria.

Riverine Communities

The Niger Delta archipelago is an African Amazon; with over three thousand creeks; most communities are inaccessible. Like a spectator on a voyage, one imagines the vicissitude of such a dwelling. These riverine dwellers are really denied the basic necessities of life. To them, life is a paean of pain, a psalm of sadness, a poem of pity, a proverb of pathos, a hymn of heartbreak, a symphony of sorrow and a story of sifting. RAHI as a friend of the people is quite undaunted in its outreach. We dare where others dread, elevating hope, fostering better relations within communities and gaining more ground on community care like never before. RAHI has learnt so much by direct experience, rather than regurgitating what is being fed to us. Being at the right place at the right time has put us in the best position for the next moment.

We Work With the Rural Populace
We really understand the terrain of Rural Africa; be it the hinterland or the archipelago. Community base care is at the forefront of preventive and social health. Having a knowledge of the communities and working directly with the people is an approach that has broadened our scope. We are almost at the peak of a vast horizon.
